God’s nature is characterized by His attributes, which reveal His essence and His relationship with creation:

• OMNIPOTENCE: God possesses unlimited power and authority over all things. He can do anything that is consistent with His nature and will. His power is evident in the creation of the universe and the miracles recorded in the Scriptures. (Jeremiah 32:17 – “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”)

• OMNISCIENCE: God is all-knowing, possessing complete and perfect knowledge of all things, past, present, and future. He knows our thoughts, desires, and actions, and His wisdom is beyond human comprehension. (Psalm 139:1-4 – “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.”)

• OMNIPRESENCE: God is present everywhere at all times. There is no place in the universe where He is not. This attribute assures us that we are never alone, for God is always with us. (Psalm 139:7-10 – “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. I… me fast.”)

• ETERNALITY: God is eternal, having no beginning and no end. He exists outside of time and is not subject to its limitations. God’s eternal nature assures us of His unchanging and everlasting presence. (Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”)

• HOLINESS: God is perfectly pure, set apart from sin and wholly devoted to righteousness. His holiness is the standard for moral perfection and is reflected in His righteous judgments and actions. (Isaiah 6:3 – “And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'”)

• LOVE: God is love and demonstrates His love through the sacrificial life and death of Jesus Christ. His love is unconditional, enduring, and transforms the lives of those who accept it. (1 John 4:8-10 – “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”)

• IMMUTABILITY: God never changes. His plans, purposes, and promises remain constant forever. (Malachi 3:6 – “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”)

• JEALOUSY: God is jealous in a holy way, desiring that His people worship Him alone and remain faithful to Him, for He is worthy of all honor and glory. (Exodus 34:14 – “Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”)

• PEACE: God is the source of true peace. He reconciles humanity to Himself through Christ and promises a peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”)
